Proctoring and security

Fair, configurable assessment integrity controls.

Proctoring in Edge is available per activity, so security can match risk without turning every assessment into the same experience.

The platform supports candidate declarations, admin codes, webcam checks, screen sharing, screenshot audit, tab-switch monitoring, block rules and live proctor rooms. The design principle is simple: protect fairness and security while keeping monitoring evidence out of psychological scoring.

Methodology

How proctoring works

Security controls are disclosed to candidates before they start and can be enabled only for activities that need them.

Pre-start controls

  • Candidate agreement and activity instructions disclose the rules before the candidate begins.
  • Admin codes, webcam permission and screen sharing can be required before continuing.

In-session monitoring

  • Tab or window departures can trigger warnings and, when configured, block after a second departure.
  • Screenshot audit can capture screen evidence at intervals when screen sharing is enabled.

Live support

  • Live proctor rooms support video, voice, chat and candidate screen sharing.
  • Assessors can guide candidates before and during a proctored session without changing the assessment scoring model.
Evidence quality

Why it supports fairness

The important distinction is not only what the assessment is called. It is what kind of evidence it collects and how that evidence can be explained.

Configurable by risk

  • A low-risk developmental activity can remain lighter-touch.
  • A high-stakes selection activity can require stronger controls.

Clear scoring boundary

  • Monitoring data supports security review and administration-integrity decisions.
  • It is not used to infer personality, honesty, emotion, capability or behavioural style.
